Tips for planning a dinner party
You can plan a dinner party for almost any occasion. Many people plan parties for holidays, for birthdays, or for wedding receptions. Before tackling all of the details of the party on the day of the event, there are a few tips for planning the best celebration possible whether it’s for a few people or a large crowd.
When you begin putting together the guest list, try to choose people who will communicate with each other instead of those who might not speak to each other or those who might cause tension at the part. This is a special time for you and the guest of honor if the party is a wedding celebration or a birthday. Try to send handwritten invitations as these are a bit more personal, but emails work as well if you don’t have a lot of time or if you plan to invite a large group of people.
Before deciding on the food that you’re going to serve at the party, find out if anyone has allergies to specific foods. If you hire a catering company in Las Vegas, make sure the company knows about these allergies. Many people will let you know about any allergies ahead of time if they know that food will be served at the party. If you’re preparing the food for the party, then prepare dishes that you already know instead of trying something new. The last thing that you want to do is serve a dish that might not taste the way you want it to for a group of people who are expecting something delicious. Prepare foods that don’t require a lot of one on one time, such as dishes that require a lot of stirring while they are on the stove or those that involve a lot of steps from preparation to getting them on the table. Consider crockpot meals or even appetizers and finger foods. Examine your inventory to ensure that you have all of the ingredients that you have to prepare the dishes you select instead of rushing out to the grocery store and abandoning the dishes on a counter or in the refrigerator for a short time.
Most guests will let you know if they are coming or not. However, there might be a few people who forget to let you know or who aren’t sure they will be able to come until the last minute. This is where you need to be flexible in the amount of food that you serve. Plan to serve all of the people you invite to your dinner party so that you’ll have enough food. Don’t try to go all out with the dishes that you make, especially if there will be children or guests who might not like spicy flavors or meals with exotic ingredients. Get all of the hard work out of the way a few days ahead of time so that you can enjoy spending time with your dinner guests. While you’re cooking, clean the kitchen. This will save a great deal of time that you can spend decorating and mingling with your guests as well as completing other tasks that need to be done for the party.
If you feel overwhelmed with everything going on with your party, ask your friends or family for help. Make a list of the things that you need to be done, and trust that they will be able to get everything needed in order to complete the party. Spend the evening before decorating and setting the table so that the only thing you have to do the day of the party is share the food that you’re prepared.
